This great, smooth and fruity whiskey has a creamy and long finish provided by the traditional oak and American first-fill casks that have not been used to mature whisky before. This creaminess and smoothness mix with the already fruity nature of the Founders Reserve and gives the pleasant sweetness that accompanies it.

On the nose, you’ll notice a sweet orange and citrus fruit combined with notes of apricot wine, chocolate raisins, sweet cinnamon, and sharp plum. You’ll detect toffee apples, zesty orange, and pear on the palate. The Glenlivet Founders Reserve can be paired with light dishes of salmon or taken alone.

The Founder’s Reserve was showcased first in late 2014 and replaced the Glenlivet 12-year-old. It was named as a tribute to the founder of the distillery, George Smith. It is sweet, and goes well with ice, in a bid to suppress the sweetness a little.
